Sunglasses aren't just for summer with @westwoodsun

I don't know how many of you know this, but I like sunglasses.  If you haven't seen my post about my sunglasses drawer - check it out here - with the update that it now holds two pair of sunglasses a slot not just the one as is shown.  So, you might say I am fond of them.

Lately I have been noticing some very cool glasses, made out of wood.  I may have had this on my list of things to make years ago, that I never got around to making.  Well, I have recently found a great company that has been making some of their own, and they are better designed than the ones I had in mind. It is a company called Westwood Sunglasses.

Look at how pretty the sides are, and the color (which they have many of).  It is just the best in woodworking, fashion, and style.  I have yet to touch some (but oh how do I want to) but they look like good quality glasses.  I'd put them in the realm of Michael Kors, or Coach as far as quality is concerned.

I normally do not like documentaries, but "Revolution" was different for me.

I recently got the chance to watch a movie titled "Revolution."  I started off not that excited to watch it, and truth be told, it was dull at the first.  Another one of those "Save the World" type shows right?  But then I got into it, and that is when my Kindle decided to stop working.  Needless to say, I was less than enthusiastic about that.  I got back into it, watched it, and really enjoyed it.  It even made me want to hunt down the other movie they made titled "Sharkwater."  There were some graphic images I didn't want to see, some of the show looked photoshoped, while other parts looked amazing.

Big Ben - London - Lego Review

Guess what I got for Christmas?  Yep, that is right, some architecture Legos!  So exciting.  I do love these little buildings, just like the real thing....  Actually I think it was the most genius idea Lego ever had.  Afterall, a lot of architects played with Lego as a kid, and have a passion for them.  However, I hate the little kits for spaceships and such, who care?  But, I do love the build with them.  So to make famous landmarks?  It is like every little architect's dream.  I love mine, and yes, I have even seen them in architects offices before.  They are fun!  So today I thought I'd do a little review / tutorial thing.

It comes in this nice box, the picture on the front of what you are going to build.

It also comes with this fun little book that teaches you, step by step how to build it, so easy.

My favorite part of the book is that it has cool pictures and information about the buildings that I never knew.

 

I opened it, it has the blocks nicely sorted in plastic by size.

Starting the build.  This is always one of the best parts, no idea why I love the base so much.

It gets taller, can you see the cool sides?  I just loved building them.

Upwards, most of the layers were similar, and they hid these black pieces inside, so fun.

Then it had me build these little structures.

And then I put them on!  With more of the cool sides.

The tower is coming along, layer after layer.

Then it had me build the top.  Not sure why I could just put it on, but I made it separately.

The finished product!  Whoohoo!  I love this thing.  It now sits nicely on my shelf by the Sydney Opera House.

Crazy right?  I love these things, they are so easy to do, and so much fun.  It feels like you are building the best architecture in the world.  I also love all the idiosyncrasies that it has.  Love, and love again.

review @CrochetbyMel Infinity Scarf from #etsy

I don't know about you, but I love infinity scarfs.  I love regular ones as well, but I am constantly adjusting them because they are trying to come off.  Sometimes I tie them together so that they become that complete circle, which says on much better.  Well, so simply because of that, the scarf is getting points. 

The color is nice.  It reminds me of another scarf I own, you may recognize it. 

But, unlike the scarf that I own whose first impression was, 'really, you gave me this fuzzy ugly thing', I like the color combos.  (For the record, although I didn't like it at first, that scarf is one of my favorites.)  Melissa's scarf however, has always been lovely.  It's kind of fun because you can mix and match which colors you want to see more of.  If you are in a purple mood, or a green mood, or a white mood, which I am rarely in.

It's got some great technique to it.  I am guessing crocheted.  It has these lovely holes in it, unlike whenever I make scarfs, because I just knit, knit, knit, then turn over and knit some more until done.  It also makes it so that it is nice and flowy, great for the spring days we are going into.  Also great for indoors, because let's face it, you know those churches you go to are cold!  I freeze all the time.

It can of course be worn up or down, depending on your mood and desired look.  The material is also nice.  It does have a few fly-aways in the yarn, but I think that adds to the character of it.  Afterall, that is what I have found to be my favorite part of my 'ugly' scarf that I love so much.  But, overall it is a nice squishy scarf, that I have enjoyed having in my possession until one of you win it! I got this necklace from a friend of mine who makes them.  I have been in love with, and searching for, fun little accessories for people who play guitar for years.  When I came across the idea of a metal guitar pick I loved it!  I had made some guitar pick necklaces in the past, and wore them all the time.  I also loved the idea of being able to stamp anything on it!  It was the perfect mash up for me of something nice, and not crafty looking, with the personality that anyone who plays the guitar has.

I was honored when I found out I would be able to work with her, helping her with such lovely creations.

burts bees

A while ago I wrote a post about Burt’s Bees new products. Today I have another new product for you to see.

The package last time came in a very garbage filled box. This time the garbage was cut down, and it was just filled with product advertisement. Much more green than the last one, even though it still seemed a bit excessive to me.

The lotion on the other hand, lovely. I was ready to use to lotion just out of the cool look of the bottle. Which, was nice. My favorite was the facial cleanser. It did the job, maybe not the best, but it worked just as well as other top cleansers. The thing that I enjoyed the most about it was how creamy it was, it felt like I was putting lotion on my face. Possibly the most enjoyable cleanser to put on. Not to mention it is all natural, and so great for you and the environment.

eco tycoon

I recently found this game. It is a little weird, but so much fun. You try to save the world from dying.  It is fairly easy to apply the principle of it, but interesting to see what sacrifices you must go through before you can save the world.  I played it for a few hours, and then gave up.  It takes a lot of games to get the hang of it, but once you do, it doesn't seem to go anywhere.

Burt's Bees

I am a member of a site called BzzAgent, which sends me things to use and talk about. This time around, they sent some things from Burt's Bees.

Now, I always thought that Burt's Bees was natural. It always sounded that way to me. But this new product that they came out with is natural, and good for the environment, right?

The facial wash is okay, I haven't seen it help, but... And the smell is fine. The spot treatment on the other hand... Every time that I open the bottle I think I am going to die! It smells so bad. I guess it just smells like honey, or something of the sort, but man, I do not like it. And, I haven't seen an improvement using it. I do use it more than the wash, probably because it is so easy to use. Just open, dab, and go.

But the thing that gets me is what it came in. We are suppose to be working on being good for the environment, right? That is what it claimed. But look at it! In the box it came in (which I reused to send something back to a friend) it had paper, and more boxes. It was like this little heaven of crap with a little bit of product. The samples are tiny, they are housed in those little square things, with a bunch of advertising around it. I understand that they want to advertise, and by all means, do it. But all the other packaging? I threw half of it away.

I guess it is an okay product, but I feel like it is green washing more than being helpful.
